If you’re looking for a quick, effective way to revise for your motorcycle theory exam, a theory revision app for your mobile phone can be a great resource.

There are many apps on places like Google Play and the Apple store that offer revision material and mock exams. However, the problem is usually that they’re mostly geared towards the theory exam for a driving license.

Because of this, it’s not uncommon to see questions like these:

“What’s the proper way to grip your car’s steering wheel?”

“What’s the legal minimum depth of tread for car tyres?” (hint: it’s not the same as the one for motorcycle tyres)

“What’s the main benefit of driving a four-wheeled vehicle?”

What’s the point of learning the answer to questions like these that don’t have anything to do with motorcycles?

Sadly, you’ll get a lot of it with the vast majority of theory exam training apps. Often, it’s a complete gamble whether you get the right one or not.

Fortunately, there are a few exceptions – Theory Test Revolution Motorcycle Theory Test UK is an app that delivers.

In this blog, you’ll learn:

– The features and benefits of the Theory Test Revolution Motorcycle Theory Test app

– Why it’s worth the asking price

Theory Test Revolution  Motorcycle Theory Test – What you’ll get:

The app costs roughly £4 to download from Google Play and £2.50 from Amazon. For that price, you’ll get access to 733 motorcycle theory exam questions about everything from:

– Hazard awareness

– Motorway rules

– Safety margins

– Vehicle loading

theory revision

You can choose to practice for specific sections, or do a quick 20-question test – perfect if you have some extra time on your hands.

You can choose to revise questions that you got wrong the last time, and even flag certain questions that you get wrong more often or that you find difficult.

If you have dyslexia or you’d prefer to have the questions read out to you, the app has the option to read the questions to you in the following regional (albeit slightly robotic) accents:

– United Kingdom

– Ireland

– United States

– Canada

– Australia

– India

– Singapore

– New Zealand

– South Africa

Aside from the ordinary practice questions, you can also do a mock test that mimics the real theory test – complete with a 57-minute time limit and an 85% pass rate.

You can take this test as many times as you want, and you can even keep track of your progress over time.

Here’s how I did over the course of roughly 1 year:

Why Is It Worth It?

DVSA licensed material

Since the material is DVSA licensed, it is updated continuously by the DVSA (I.e the organisation that monitors the license tests). You can also activate an option that gives you a detailed DVSA explanation when you get a question right or wrong.

That way, there’s no guesswork – you’ll know exactly why the correct answer is the correct answer.

100% geared towards motorcycle theory revision

Remember how other theory apps had irrelevant questions like “how should you apply your seat belt?” and “what’s the proper way to hold your steering wheel?”

If you do, you’ll know that these questions are fine if you’re getting a driving license, but if you’re getting a license for a motorcycle, questions like these are just as confusing as they are irrelevant.

Fortunately, Motorcycle Theory Test UK is specifically designed towards motorcycle license questions.

In addition to the universal questions about traffic safety, you’ll also get motorcycle-specific questions such as:

  • Rules that apply for riding with a pillion passenger
  • What you should check after adjusting your drive chain
  • How to stay visible during the night

This will make sure that you learn how to operate a motorcycle while still learning about traffic laws.

Includes Hazard Perception videos

hazard perception videos

Although Hazard Perception is an obligatory part of the theory exam, many theory apps (even some good ones) don’t include Hazard Perception training. Usually, you’ll have to pay extra for a separate app for that.

Motorcycle Theory Test UK on the other hand comes bundled with 33 high-quality Hazard Perception videos to practice for the Hazard Perception portion of your theory.

Similarly to the theory exam questions, you can choose which and how many clips you want to view.

Here’s a fun challenge; try doing a marathon of all 33 clips and keep a consistent score of 4 stars for every clip.

If you’d like to know more about Hazard Perception and some tips to ace it, I’ve written a blog post about it which you can check out here.

Go hard with the Personal Trainer mode

theory test revision personal trainer

The Motorcycle Theory Test app comes with a function that uses an algorithm that remembers the questions you tend to get wrong from both the practice questions AND the mock tests.

This will allow you to revise the most difficult questions based on your previous performance, similar to a personal fitness trainer session.

You can also use this feature if you want to do a full-blown study session. At 733 questions in total – it will be quite an accomplishment if you get through all of them in one go.

Works offline/offline accessibility

Isn’t it a pain when you can’t access one of your apps, just because you don’t have an internet connection?

Thankfully, this app allows you to access the learning material even when you’re offline, so you can squeeze in a quick revision session – even when you’re not at home.
